Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"We had the Malay chicken curry and the beef rice bowls and they were outstanding. The dishes were rich, well-balanced and full of flavour, absolutely worth seeking out. Friendly and attentive team and lovely atmosphere."
"I had chicken gyozo and braised beef curry and both were very nice ! Peko is based within Glasgow Uni and it would be easy to miss it which would be a real shame! I'll defo return."
"It's been over 25 years since I've been back into the QMU. This time I'm here with my family and my mum and dad. Being 2nd generation Chinese from a family of restauranteurs we are highly critical of real Chinese food, not your chop suey, fake Chinese food out of a takeaway. Let's start with the food is outrageously good, literally on another level from all the other places that serve real Chinese food in and around Glasgow. The staff are polite, friendly and very helpful. The surroundings are modern, relaxed and fun as they have karaoke that my daughter had a shot of. This is now our default go to Chinese restaurant in and around Glasgow. To anyone reading this, give it a try, it has very student friendly prices which just adds to the appeal for everyone else."
"-Popped in for a quick bit with friends and was amazed at the quality of food served. -Customer service was excellent. - Great value for money (big portions)."
"Never expected such a delicious and authentic Malaysian meal here in Glasgow. We had ordered 4 dishes and all came up to be very amazing. We like the stir-fried rice noodles with fish head the most. The dishes were all well-seasoned using lots of spices. Portions were enough for us to share. Will surely bookmark it and visit every time when we visit Glasgow."
"Phenomenal atmosphere with a unique view to the University of Glasgow. While it is hard to locate the restaurant if you are an outsider from the student life but it is definitely worthwhile to try so. On the second floor of the QMU Peko Panda has a more elaborate menu with table service, whilst more casual student catering (T/A) available on the ground floor. Super friendly stuff, amazing view, and excellent food. I’d advise to take a picture of the menu and translate it on your phone. Some of the best dishes aren’t highlighted in English. It’s nice to have a good restaurant on campus."
"I ordered Won Ton soup and the dumplings were so tasty! Very generous ratio of dumpling to broth as you can see in the picture. I also had the iced milk tea. They do a lunch set which seems very reasonably priced. The server was lovely and so welcoming. I will be back to try the seafood laksa, it looks amazing."
"We ordered the Braised Beef Brisket Rice, Braised Pork Rice and Stir-fried Noodles with Chicken. When we entered the place it was empty at 6-7pm. Granted, this was during UofG's semester break. The staff were super friendly, able to speak both Chinese and English, and really attentive throughout our meal. Personally, the Braised Beef Brisket Rice was the best, really tender and flavorful. The braised pork and noodles were decent as well, just not as good as the beef in my opinion. Prices were reasonable at around £10-£13 for each of the dishes. We were told rice is refillable, but the portions were amazing to begin with and we could barely finish our food. Just to note, shredded potato came with the rice dishes and were heavily marinated with garlic and vinegar(?). Up to personal tastes if you love or hate garlic and vinegar."
